Krewe Of Toulouse

Who and What is The Krewe of Toulouse?

The Krewe of Toulouse was formed in May of 2008 with a goal of hosting a Mardi Gras parade for the entertainment and enjoyment of the public and a formal ball for its members and their invited guests.
membership is open to men and women over 21.
The krewe takes its name from Fort Toulouse, the historic fort located in Wetumpka, Alabama last inhabited by the French in 1755. Since it is a well established fact that Mardi Gras was first celebrated in Mobile Alabama in 1703 by the French , it only stands to reason that The French in Wetumpka celebrated it in some fashion.
This gives us a link to the Mardi Gras celebrations on the gulf coast. A wink to history and just some good ol fun for Wetumpka. Like most Mardi Gras Krewes, it's all about fun.
On February 20th 2009 our first ball was held  at the Wetumpka Civic Center.
King Wetala and Queen Mysterious and their court were crowned to reign over the festivities.
On February 21st 2009 at 12:00 noon our first parade rolled through down town Wetumpka to a waiting crowd estimated at 5,000  revelers .
